The Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) at Stanford University invites applications for a fixed-term Assistant Professor (Research) faculty position. The appointment is for a non-renewable term of five years, beginning in September 2022. The selected candidate will be appointed in an appropriate disciplinary department (e.g., Business, Communication, Computer Science, Economics, Education, History, Medicine, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology), and will be a Junior Fellow of the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence.

We are seeking applicants from all areas of research related to artificial intelligence, spanning theoretical foundations, systems, software, applications, and human or societal impact. Applicants must have received a doctoral degree prior to the start of the appointment, must show outstanding promise in research, and must have a strong commitment to teaching. A successful candidate will be expected to teach one course per year at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels and will be provided generous research support.
