Augustana University Psychology Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant
Professor with expertise in Neuroscience or Developmental Psychology to help us grow our
department in one of two exciting new directions. The faculty appointment will begin fall 2022;
doctoral degree required by August 2022.


Successful applicants will demonstrate strong commitment to excellent teaching in an
undergraduate liberal arts environment. Teaching load is 3 classes in Fall and Spring and 1
course in January term. Candidates can expect to teach undergraduate courses in their area of
expertise in addition to one or more courses that broadly serve the psychology major such as
Introductory Psychology, Lifespan Human Development, Statistics, and/or Research Methods.
Neuroscience candidates should be able to teach Behavioral Neuroscience in addition to other
courses within their area of expertise.


Developmental Psychology candidates should be able to teach Child Psychology in addition to
other courses within their area of expertise.


Our faculty work closely with our undergraduate students, serving as academic and career
advisors and mentoring students in research. Augustana offers lab space and funding to support
faculty research programs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about mentoring undergraduate
students and will have an active research program that engages students.
