The Center for Molecular & Behavioral Neuroscience (CMBN) at Rutgers University - Newark seeks outstanding candidates for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in NEUROSCIENCE. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience or a related field and have completed at least two years of post-doctoral training.
The ideal candidate for this position asks fundamental hypothesis-driven questions about brain structure and function and is open to establishing collaborative research efforts within the Rutgers neuroscience community. Research areas of particular interest are executive control, sensory-motor integration, learning and memory, and emotional regulation. The successful applicant will likely use a broad range of experimental approaches, primarily in rodents. The assistant professor will be expected to maintain an active externally-funded research program, to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in neuroscience, and to mentor Ph.D. students in the Behavioral and Neural Sciences program.
CMBN’s mission is to advance understanding of the brain’s structure and function through excellence in neuroscience research and training. We believe this goal can only be reached through an integrative approach that cuts across the boundaries of traditional disciplines. Thus, CMBN researchers combine molecular, electrophysiological, neurochemical, anatomical, imaging, behavioral, and neuropsychological methods to analyze how the brain works, develops, interacts with the environment, and is modified by experience in health and disease. CMBN is also committed to serving the academic and surrounding Newark communities through educational outreach, community service, and research internship programs that train undergraduate and high school students.
Rutgers is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and has a strong commitment to diversity. Women and members of underrepresented minorities are especially encouraged to apply. Rutgers-Newark is noted for its exceptionally diverse student population.
Applicants should apply at https://jobs.rutgers.edu/postings/143539. A complete application includes a cover letter indicating why the candidate is a good fit for CMBN, curriculum vitae, research statement, and the names and contact information for three references. Applicants should also arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to cmbn.office@newark.rutgers.edu.
Applicant review will start November 1st, 2021 and will continue until the position is filled.
