Pennington Biomedical Research Center is seeking a faculty scientist with a strong interest in applying mouse genetics to the study of metabolic health and disease. This broad focus covers a variety of scientific areas, including but not limited to immunometabolism, neuroscience, nutrient sensing and metabolism, liver/adipose biology, skeletal muscle physiology, reproductive biology, and all areas of cell and molecular biology that pertain to metabolism and aging. This position will include oversight and scientific leadership of the Transgenic Core, a longstanding core that has been NIH-supported for over 16 years and has a strong track record of successfully generating rodent genetic models for investigators within and outside Pennington Biomedical.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field of study, postdoctoral experience, and an established track record of productive research and independent funding. The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Maintain an active, independent, and federally funded research program that touches on areas related to obesity, metabolism, and/or nutrition.
- Have specific experience in both the theoretical and practical/technical methodology necessary to lead a state-of-the-art transgenic core facility that generates novel rodent genetic models.
- Interact with Pennington faculty to enable them to incorporate cutting-edge mouse genetic approaches into their research programs.
- Participate in existing and future Center awards, specifically the current NORC & COBRE center grants.
