Staff Research Associate in a neuroscience laboratory in the Departments of Neurology and Neurobiology at UCLA, with experiments that determine mechanisms of brain repair and identify new drugs that might promote recovery of function in this disease, working with mouse models of stroke.

Fun, Exciting and Supportive Work Environment:

As a research laboratory in the Departments of Neurology and Neurobiology at UCLA, we are studying the mechanisms of brain repair after stroke.  Stroke is the leading cause of adult disability, and the research in this laboratory will identify new therapies that lead to recovery.  Recent research indicates new molecular pathways that promote plasticity in brain circuits. The research conducted by the successful applicant will define if drugs or molecules that target these pathways promote recovery in stroke.  The lab is a collaborative and interactive environment.  We are a tight group of people with common goals and an interest in helping each other, leading to a supportive work environment.

This position will conduct experiments to characterize candidate brain repair drugs for humans with stroke using mouse models of stroke. The studies will test dose, timing and mechanisms of action of these therapies.  A main focus of this position is on testing the behavioral recovery of mice. The successful candidate will have at least two years of experience with laboratory work, and have previous experience working with mice or rats.  A B.S. degree or higher is required.
