Laboratory of CNS Glia Biology and White Matter Repair
We are seeking for highly motivated individuals to join the Kang lab in the Department of Neural Sciences, Center for Neural Repair and Rehabilitation (a.k.a. Shriners Hospitals and Pediatric Research Center) at Temple University (in Philadelphia, PA). The lab has numerous ongoing projects regarding myelin/ oligodendrocyte biology and pathophysiology in neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS and Alzheimer’s disease. The postdoctoral fellow will conduct several new projects that have been developed by recent cell-specific RNAseq data and promising preliminary results, concerning molecular mechanisms underlying oligodendroglial responses to neuroinflammation in degenerative diseases. The lab employs multiple lines of newly developed mutant mouse, imaging, and molecular and biochemical methods.
The candidate will be expected to possess superior communication skills, ability to write scientific reports and present their research findings at scientific meetings. The qualified candidate must possess a Ph.D. in neuroscience or other basic sciences. Prior experience in one of the following areas is preferred: mouse models of neurodegeneration, molecular biology and mouse transgene engineering, single cell or bulk RNAseq data analysis, microglia phenotyping, mouse brain surgery for injury induction, primary neural cell culture, or electron microscopy.
To apply for this position please email a cover letter (optional) and curriculum vitae in a single PDF to: Dr. Shin Kang (shin.kang@temple.edu). For some selected candidates, the arrangement of two or three reference letters will be asked.
