Interested in discovering mechanisms by which environmental factors contribute to Parkinson’s Disease? We have an open position in the Department of Neurology at UCLA. This is a unique opportunity to join a collaborative, multi-disciplinary effort led by Drs. Jeff Bronstein, Chao Peng, and William Zeiger. We seek to understand how environmental exposures affect the onset and progression of alpha-synuclein pathology. This project is fully funded for 3 years and will span a variety of disciplines, including epidemiology, toxicology, biochemistry, and multiple animal models (mouse and zebrafish). Applicants will gain expertise with cutting edge neuroscience techniques including isolation of patient derived alpha-synuclein, high-throughput screening in cultured cells, and two-photon in vivo imaging. Applicants should have a PhD from a relevant field of biology or neuroscience, a track record of successfully leading an independent research project, and an ability to work collaboratively. Experience working with mouse models, performing in vitro or in vivo fluorescence microscopy, and some programming knowledge (MATLAB, Python) are preferred. This is an unparalleled opportunity to join a robust group of movement disorders researchers at one of the leading Neurology departments in the country, all in sunny southern California. To be considered for the position, please provide a cover letter along with an updated CV.
