We are seeking a motivated entry level Neuroscientist to join our fast-paced Neuroscience team. The Scientist will be responsible for studying a variety of biological processes involved in neurological and psychiatric disease. In addition to working on current projects, this person will conduct new target discovery, establish new technologies or models, and generate ideas for future research.
A day in the life of this Scientist may include:
Establishing optogenetics and chemogenetics in mice and using these techniques to explore mechanisms of normal or pathological nervous system circuits
Conduct in vivo experiments involving stereotaxic, local, or systemic injections to evaluate mechanisms of brain function or dysfunction or efficacy in models of disease
Establishing ex vivo brain slice electrophysiology and conducting mechanistic experiments using these slices
Evaluating and implementing new technologies as relevant
Conduct research independently including innovating new ideas, designing and analyzing experiments, and trouble-shooting technical issues
This might be the right role for you if:
You are an innovative and rigorous scientist with skills in neurophysiological, molecular and behavioral techniques.
You have strong written and oral communication skills, and enjoy presenting ideas and data to diverse stakeholders including both internal leaders and external collaborators.
In order to be considered qualified for this role, you must:
Have a PhD and 2+ years postdoctoral experience, with a background in circuit neurophysiology (brain slice optogenetics). Experience in systems-level neuroscience inquiry is also required. Prior experience in mentoring and inspiring others to achieve goals is an advantage.
