Postdoctoral Fellowship in ALS degeneration and axonal regeneration

A postdoctoral position is available to study the degeneration of spinal motor neurons during the pathogenesis of ALS. The laboratory employs state-of-the-art cellular, molecular, biochemical, mouse transgenic and imaging approaches for the interrogation of circuit development, regeneration and physiology. We recently performed unbiased ribosomal profiling to identify genes regulated by both regeneration and ALS degeneration in spinal motor neurons. An investigation of these genes is underway, along with additional unbiased approaches for the identification of new therapeutic targets. The individual will report directly to the principal investigator, Dr. Brian Pierchala, Sherry L. Sonneborn Professor of Anatomy, Cell Biology & Physiology.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a closely related biomedical field and have a thorough background in neurobiology, cell biology, and biochemistry. Applicants must also possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
