PSYCHOLOGY AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT - Assistant Professor at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. The Department of Psychology and Child Development within the College of Liberal Arts seeks applicants for one full-time, academic-year, tenure-track, Assistant Professor in cognitive neuroscience psychology with expertise in the neural basis of human cognition.  The position begins September 15, 2022 with an initial appointment of two years, subject to renewal. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Candidates for this position must have a PhD in cognitive neuroscience psychology, or related fields, completed by the time of hire and demonstrated experience. Specific area of specialization is open. 

Candidates must show a strong commitment to teaching excellence and provide evidence of professional activity that keeps them abreast of knowledge and developments within their discipline. In particular, we seek someone who could teach the following undergraduate level courses:  Cognition, Sensation and Perception, Memory, Learning, Cognitive Neuroscience, Behavioral Effects of Psychoactive Drugs, Research Methods, and supervision of internships and senior projects. 

Cal Poly operates under a teacher-scholar model in which our faculty are expected to balance teaching with an active program of research/professional development (including publication), student supervision and advising, and participation in service activities at the department and college/university level. The teaching load averages 12 units per quarter (with course load reductions in each of the first two years to help establish one's professional development activities), with correspondingly reasonable expectations for scholarship and service. Cal Poly strongly values diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), especially in the classroom and among its areas of study. This full-time, academic-year, tenure-track, Assistant Professor in cognitive neuroscience psychology with expertise in the neural basis of human cognition search will occur at the same time as a university‐wide cluster of searches designed to increase curricular coverage of areas related to DEI, as well as to promote inclusive and equity-minded teaching strategies across the university. If the successful Assistant Professor in cognitive neuroscience psychology with expertise in the neural basis of human cognitioncandidate's research overlaps with DEI-related topics, there will be an opportunity to join and support these university efforts.
