Neuroscience Faculty

The Central Michigan University College of Medicine (CMED) is seeking a highly qualified tenure track/tenured faculty in the Neuroscience discipline.  Successful candidates will become part of a growing research community at the College of Medicine.  CMU’s neuroscience program consists of faculty members whose work focuses on neurodegenerative disorders, stroke, brain tumors, and neurodevelopmental disorders.  Successful candidate will collaborate strongly, broaden and deepen current work, and increase the extramural funding and research productivity of the program.  CMU will provide a competitive space and start-up package to support the development of an externally funded robust research program.

Individuals will be considered at the Assistant, Associate and Professor rank.  The successful candidate will be expected to participate in graduate medical education with time protected for research and research administration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Doctoral degree, PhD or MD/DO, neuroscience, or closely related field
• Strong collaborative and communication skills
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity by supporting a diverse and inclusive environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Candidate should have a broad background in molecular and synthetic biology as applied to biomedical tool development.
• To be considered for an advanced rank of Assoc. Professor or Full Professor, candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field and have an established and recognized area of scholarly activity as demonstrated by publications and/or external funding.

Research

• Conduct a competitive independent and/or collaborative research program in candidate’s relevant area of expertise.
• Apply for and obtain external funding, independently and/or in a collaboration with colleagues including, but no limited to grants and consultancies.
• Publish research findings in the form of peer-reviewed journals, books, and other relevant venues.
• Present research at regional, national, and international conferences.

Teaching

• Teach medical school topics in neuroanatomy, and general neuroscience.
• Actively participate with department faculty in ongoing development of curricula.
• Advise or supervise student(s)

About CMU College of Medicine: The CMU College of Medicine welcomed its inaugural class in the summer of 2013 and now has over 500 alumni. The innovative medical school curriculum is designed to prepare students for practice in mid- to northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, with particular attention to primary care needs in the region.
