The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine has two positions available for outstanding early or mid-career investigators focused on auditory or vestibular basic research. This position will provide dedicated bench space and animal facility access at the Central Institute for the Deaf, a world-class research laboratory co-located with one of the original oral schools for the deaf in the United States. The Department of Otolaryngology currently comprises a large group of clinical and research faculty, an AuD and Deaf Education program and a top tier otolaryngology residency with a T32 institutional grant supporting four residents per year. Expectations include developing an independent research program supported by external funding, participating in graduate medical education, mentoring AuD, PhD, MD students and otolaryngology residents, providing research experiences for students at all levels and collaboration with both clinical and research members of the department, school of medicine, and research university.
