POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, SUR LAB - The Picower Institute for Learning and Memory. Postdoctoral associate position available in the Laboratory of Mriganka Sur, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory, MIT. Our goal is to discover fundamental mechanisms of brain wiring and processing, and how they go awry in disorders of brain development. We are seeking a postdoctoral associate who will use human stem cells, combined with cutting edge molecular (RNAseq, scRNAseq, proteomics) and microscopy (IHC, live imaging, confocal, multiphoton) technologies, to study the early mechanisms of Rett Syndrome and other neurodevelopmental disorders in vitro.
Responsibilities include performing human pluripotent stem cell maintenance and differentiation into brain organoids and 2D cultures, identifying and validating molecular and cellular targets, working independently to generate and analyze data, and working with collaborating research groups and core facilities.
REQUIRED: PhD in cell biology, neuroscience, molecular biology, developmental biology or related field; experience with mammalian cell culture; experience in molecular biology techniques (RT-qPCR, WB, etc.) and fluorescence imaging (IHC, microscopy).
PREFERRED: Experience with human pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation; experience with organoid culture; experience working with mice; experience in mentoring students and/or research assistants.
