The Manfredsson Laboratory at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, AZ is looking for an experienced patch-clamp electrophysiologist, either at the postdoctoral or senior scientist level. The laboratory studies mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disease etiology and symptomology. We are particularly interested in circuits involved in Parkinson's disease and Huntington's disease (nigrostriatal neurons, striatal neurons, etc.) and are also developing a program aimed at better understanding the change that occurs in enteric neurons with disease. Our group utilizes a wide variety of molecular and physiological techniques to address these questions.
The successful candidate will manage all electrophysiological aspects of the group, this includes performing recordings in slices or other preparations, also incorporating calcium imaging and chemo/optogenetics as needed. In addition to running his/her own projects, this position will also require collaboration with other members of the group.
