The Neurosurgery Pain Research Institute at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine seeks a talent postdoctoral fellow candidate with strong enthusiasm and interest in pain mechanisms to join the laboratory of Dr. Lintao Qu in the Department of Neurosurgery. My lab is interested in studying neuroimmune mechanisms of arthritis pain using a combination of approaches including in vitro and in vivo calcium imaging, in vitro and in vivo sensory neuron electrophysiological recording, cell culture and heterologous channel expression, mouse molecular genetics, CRISPR/Cas9 mediated gene editing, neuroanatomy, and pain behavioral assays (Wang et al, 2019; JCI).  We are part of a diverse and highly collaborative community of pain biologists using cutting edge methods in basic and translational pain research.

Candidates should hold a Ph.D in neuroscience or a related field. Experience with electrophysiology, molecular biology, immunostaining, and pain behavioral measurement is preferred. Experience with immunology is desirable. Candidate should have strong research motivation, ability to work independently, and excellent writing and oral communication skills. Salary is NIH level.
