The lab of Nathan Schoppa in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine seeks energetic and creative scientists to join our research group at the level of postdoctoral fellow. The lab is focused on the study of the mammalian olfactory system. In particular, we are interested in understanding the basic structure of olfactory circuits, their function, and how circuit structure and function can be modulated due to experience or disease. We make extensive use of patch clamp electrophysiology in brain slices, in vivo electrophysiological recordings, and behavioral analyses in our research and the ideal candidate would have some experience in one or more of these areas.
The primary responsibilities of this position will be to design and execute experiments in collaboration with the primary investigator. The job will include wet lab experimentation, data analysis, literature review, and reporting of results at conferences and in journals. At least a part of the position will involve studies that go toward understanding olfactory deficits in a mouse model of Fragile X Syndrome.
