Postdoctoral Fellow

Postdoctoral Fellow, Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth

The Yeh Lab in the Department of Molecular and Systems Biology at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to participate in NIA/NIAAA-funded studies as part of an ongoing lab effort to uncover the cellular and molecular bases of the short- and long-term effects of prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) on embryonic brain development and across lifespan, incorporating biochemical, neuroanatomical, electrophysiological, and behavioral approaches and transgenic mouse models.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will take the lead in conducting and coordinating a wide array of experiments and procedures, for example, PAE paradigms, patch clamp electrophysiology in live slice preparations coupled with optogenetics, stereotaxic viral injections and neuropharmacology in the developing and mature brain, immunohistochemistry, Western blot analysis and behavioral testing.

The Yeh Lab encourages each trainee to explore and develop his/her own research directions. Dartmouth offers an outstanding collaborative research and learning environment as well as opportunities for mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. The PI is committed to mentoring postdoctoral fellows to achieve their professional and career aspirations.

Minimum requirements include: (1) PhD in neuroscience or related discipline, (2) working expertise in at least two of the above-mentioned experimental approaches, (3) strong motivation to learning new experimental approaches, (4) ability to function independently and as part of a research team, and (5) commitment toward achieving scientific and career goals. A start date in 2021 is preferred.

Please send cover letter describing research experience, interests and aspirations, CV and contact information of 3 referees to Dr. Hermes H. Yeh at hermes.yeh@dartmouth.edu.

Dartmouth is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive community that promotes collaboration among trainees, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds. Applicants are expected to advance Dartmouth’s commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion through their research, service, and/or life experiences.
