The Christian-Hinman lab (www.christianhinmanlab.org) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our Neurophysiology and Epilepsy research program to work on projects studying the contributions of brain-derived estrogens to neural excitability and seizures in mouse models of epilepsy. The studies will involve a variety of approaches and tools including in vitro patch clamp electrophysiology in brain slices, in vivo EEG, stereotactic intracranial surgeries, novel transgenic mouse models, and immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Physiology, Neurobiology, Bioengineering, or a related discipline. Candidates close to defending the Ph.D. dissertation will be considered. Experience in one or more of the techniques listed above is highly desired. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both individually and as part of a team are required. Competitive candidates will have at least one first-author publication.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position is on a yearly basis, with NIH and other funding available for at least 2 years.
