Director of ALS Research
We are recruiting an established investigator at or eligible for promotion to the Associate or full Professor level with an independent research program addressing fundamental mechanisms underlying the pathophysiology of ALS and its treatment and prevention. Exceptional candidates at the Assistant professor level will also be considered. The successful candidate will lead their own research group and will be charged with recruiting additional scientists to grow ALS research at Vanderbilt. Individuals interested in translational approaches to novel treatment development are particularly encouraged to apply, but all areas of interest are welcome, including researchers with portfolios that include investigation of other neurodegenerative diseases. An individual selected for the position is expected to build a diverse and inclusive, dynamic and productive research laboratory and support or play an active role in the ALS clinical practice; mentor and train scientists; and make use of the excellent opportunities for collaborative, translational, and high-risk/high-reward science available at the Vanderbilt. Laboratory space and start-up funds, access to shared research facilities, and on-going research support are competitive with other premier academic institutions. Salary is commensurate with experience and accomplishments and a full package of benefits (including retirement, health, and life and long-term care insurance) is available.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center is committed to principles of equal opportunity and affirmative action. Women, minorities, people with disabilities, and protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
