Job Summary

The Kimbrough Lab (www.kimbroughlab.com) has a position available for a Postdoctoral researcher interested in substance use disorders. The Kimbrough Lab is located at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and is housed in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences, which is part of the College of Veterinary Medicine. The Postdoctoral researcher will be expected to contribute to a positive work environment within the lab. In addition, the Postdoctoral researcher will be expected to contribute input to experimental design, prepare and analyze data, write and publish manuscripts, and present findings at conferences. 

The Postdoctoral researcher will conduct behavioral experiments assessing the effects of substance use on behavioral outcomes and brain function. The researcher will also explore the comorbidity of substance use disorders with other disorders such as mental health disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. Studies will involve preclinical mouse models of substance use disorder, chemogenetic or pharmacological manipulation, whole-brain clearing and imaging, and computational analysis.

Education

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Behavioral Psychology or other relevant topics.

Experience

Previous experience with rodent behavior, preclinical behavioral models of substance use disorder, stereotaxic surgery, intravenous catheter surgery, histology, and proficiency in python/R are ideal, but are not required.
