The laboratory of Liang Liang in the Department of Neuroscience at Yale University has multiple postdoctoral positions available. The Liang lab focuses on understanding how the thalamic circuitry shapes the flow of visual information and supports visual perception. We use interdisciplinary methods, including two-photon imaging in awake head-restrained mice, circuit-specific tracing/manipulation, visually guided behavior, and computational analysis. More information about the lab can be checked out at our website (https://www.liang-lab.com/). We are looking for highly talented individuals to join us to work on one of the three directions: 1) establishment of thalamic visual function during development; 2) local signal processing and neuromodulation; 3) thalamocortical connectivity and functional interaction.

An ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

Essential

  • The candidate should be in his/her last year of a PhD program in Neuroscience, Biology or related field, or within 1 year of receiving his/her PhD degree.
  • An outstanding record of research and scholarly activity.
  • A demonstrable commitment to scientific discovery.
  • Be creative, thoughtful, strongly self-driven and well organized.
  • Have skills and experience in advanced neurophysiological techniques and quantitative data analysis.
  • Have skills and experience with complex surgery in model organisms.

Desirable

  • A good track record of securing fellowship and research funding.
  • In-depth knowledge of a programing language.
  • A good knowledge of the visual system.
  • Have skills and experience in two-photon calcium imaging and image processing

Interested candidates should email their applications to Liang Liang (liang.liang@yale.edu). The application should include: (1) CV; (2) A brief description of research interests and motivation; (3) Contact information for 3 references.

Candidates will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
