The Institute for Genomic Medicine (IGM) at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is a unique interdisciplinary research environment specializing in human genetics and genomics. The IGM leads cutting-edge research programs developing and characterizing cellular and animal models of human disease and therapeutic interventions.

The Frankel and Gelinas laboratories in the IGM seek a postdoctoral scientist to study severe childhood epilepsy using precision genetic mouse models. Our joint focus is on understanding pathophysiologic features during postnatal development, and in trialing genetic therapies to rescue these and other features of disease observed in the models. The position is unique as it offers expert training in both in vivo electrophysiology (Gelinas lab) and molecular genetics (Frankel lab) in the context of translationally-relevant research.

Qualified candidates should have graduate training in neuroscience and basic skills in molecular biology and genetics. Candidates with prior experience with in vivo electrophysiology and imaging in animal models are preferred.
