Job Details
The Cao lab’s research focuses on brain ischemia using rodent animal model. Dr. Cao recently obtained a NIH grant to investigate in situ reprogramming of astrocytes into oligodendrocytes for white matter restoration in vascular cognitive impairment and dementia. A postdoctoral position has been created mainly to perform molecular biology studies related to this grant, including cloning/subcloning, production of recombinant protein, viral vector generation and purification, real-time PCR and RNAseq, etc. The position also involves structural and functional analysis of white matter injury, preliminary data analysis as well as manuscript preparation. Salary is based on applicant’s experience and NIH salary scale.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or an equivalent degree in life science. Individuals with a strong background in molecular biology and/or neuroscience are especially welcome. Applicants should send a curriculum vitae and two references to Guodong Cao at caog@upmc.edu.
