The Masmanidis laboratory (https://masmanidislab.neurobio.ucla.edu/) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the Department of Neurobiology at UCLA. Our lab focuses on understanding neural circuit dynamics that regulate the learning and production of reward-guided and self-initiated movements. The postdoctoral researcher will lead experiments to understand the mechanisms that generate and refine neural dynamics – particularly neural sequences – in corticostriatal circuits during timed motor behavior. Experiments will include large-scale recordings of neural activity across multiple brain areas in mice. This position will involve close collaboration, and the potential for co-mentorship, with the laboratory of Dean Buonomano, in order to develop computational models to study the encoding of time by neural sequences. Researchers will join a large and vibrant neuroscience research community at UCLA, with a wide range of career training opportunities.
Applicants should ideally have a graduate degree with a strong background in in vivo electrophysiological recording and data analysis, and an interest in the neurobiology of timing.
