Postdoctoral Researcher Studying Neural Dynamics that Encode Time

Employer
UCLA
Location
UCLA, Los Angeles
Salary
Salary commensurate with experience and NIH funding levels.
Closing date
Aug 30, 2021

The Masmanidis laboratory (https://masmanidislab.neurobio.ucla.edu/) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the Department of Neurobiology at UCLA. Our lab focuses on understanding neural circuit dynamics that regulate the learning and production of reward-guided and self-initiated movements. The postdoctoral researcher will lead experiments to understand the mechanisms that generate and refine neural dynamics – particularly neural sequences – in corticostriatal circuits during timed motor behavior. Experiments will include large-scale recordings of neural activity across multiple brain areas in mice. This position will involve close collaboration, and the potential for co-mentorship, with the laboratory of Dean Buonomano, in order to develop computational models to study the encoding of time by neural sequences. Researchers will join a large and vibrant neuroscience research community at UCLA, with a wide range of career training opportunities.

Applicants should ideally have a graduate degree with a strong background in in vivo electrophysiological recording and data analysis, and an interest in the neurobiology of timing.

To apply, please send your CV, names of three references and a cover letter describing your research interests to Sotiris Masmanidis at smasmanidis@ucla.edu.

UCLA is an AA/EOE employer.
