Postdoctoral Fellow in Neuromuscular Research

Position:                         Postdoctoral Fellow

Organization:            University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center

Department:                 Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

Deadline:                        ASAP

  Contact:                          yasin.dhaher@utsouthwestern.edu

Description:

Postdoctoral Fellowship opportunity in neuromuscular research and rehabilitation sciences.  Our current focus is on understanding the modulatory effects of endogenous sex hormones on the basic properties along the neuromuscular axis in the healthy human population, an interplay between the endocrine and neurophysiologic domains.  The overall goal of the study is to develop baseline knowledge in healthy states and use as a platform to identify and characterize differences due hormonal states that distinguish women in their prime of life with neuromuscular dysfunction from the general patient population and inform the design of sex-specific contemporary rehabilitation treatment approaches.

We are seeking to recruit an ambitious and successful scientist with doctoral degree in neuroscience or related fields and are interested in an opportunity to research the molecular basis of the endocrine mediated changes in neuromuscular control seen at the systems level.  The project will be an excellent opportunity for a neurophysiology/biomedical engineering researcher to pursue novel applications of cutting-edge biology/neurophysiology and explore an area with extraordinary potential for clinical translation.

The position is available starting in May 2021. Interested candidates should send (email: yasin.dhaher@utsouthwestern.edu) a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and contact information of three references to Dr. Yasin Y. Dhaher.  This project is funded by an NIH grant.

Qualifications:

  1. A professional level of knowledge in motor control generally acquired through the completion of a Ph.D. Degree in Neurophysiology, Physical Therapy, Kinesiology, Biomedical Engineering or related fields.
  2. Knowledge in Neurophysiology & Biology
  3. Knowledge in clinical research.
  4. Quantitative skills are preferable.

UT Southwestern Medical Center is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.  Women, minorities, veterans and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
