We are seeking candidates with a strong background in human magnetic resonance imaging research, and an abiding interest in genetic and environmental factors related to neurodegeneration, for an NIH-funded postdoctoral fellowship. Specifically, this longitudinal, prospective project includes the collection of neuroimaging, neuropsychological, and molecular data with an overarching goal to define the prodrome of the neurological disease known as fragile X Tremor Ataxia Syndrome (FXTAS).
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Post-Doctoral Scholar will join a collaborative workgroup and assist in the implementation and analysis of experiments that will use functional and structural MRI with patients with the fragile X premutation as well as matched typically developing control participants. This work will encompass use of image processing software, writing of Matlab scripts, and collaboration in the development of methods to integrate structural and functional MRI analyses. The role may include supervision of graduate, post-graduate and undergraduate students who will aid in the completion of these projects. Responsibilities will include data acquisition and analysis, documentation of results, and assisting in the dissemination of results through peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings as well as contributing to future grants or funding requests as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS: A PhD or equivalent degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, or a closely related field is required by the start date. At the time of application, the basic required qualification is the completion of all degree requirements except the dissertation.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Published research experience with Magnetic Resonance Imaging analysis techniques.
SALARY and BENEFITS: The initial appointment is full-time for one year, with possibility of renewal contingent upon funding. The salary range for this position is $54,540 -$65,292. Starting salary is commensurate with experience. The University of California offers a comprehensive benefits package for postdoctoral scholars. (https://clients.garnett-powers.com/pd/uc/
