The Wallace H. Coulter Foundation Endowed Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at FIU invites applications for a tenure-track / tenured faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level to begin as early as September 2021. We are seeking highly qualified individuals with expertise and research experience in Neural Engineering/ Neurorehabilitation that complements or enhances the existing strengths of the department.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Biomedical Engineering or a related science or engineering field. Candidates must have a commitment to teaching excellence at both the graduate and the undergraduate levels and be qualified to develop and teach courses in neural engineering. The new faculty will be expected to develop and sustain an inclusive high-quality collaborative research program. Postdoctoral research experience in academic research or in the medical device industry/regulatory affairs is preferred at the Assistant Professor level. Faculty for consideration of a tenured appointment must have an established record of scholarly accomplishment and international recognition as well as demonstrable engagement with the medical device industry, and clinical partners, Translational success will be considered an asset. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.

BME faculty is funded by federal, non-profit, foundation, industry and philanthropic grants. Several are engaged in translational research. The department offers the BS (ABET accredited), MS, BS/MS and PhD in Biomedical Engineering. It has over 350 undergraduate and 60 graduate students. The department faculty is actively engaged in joint curriculum development and research of interest to the Honors College, the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and the College of Arts and Sciences.
