Job Details

A postdoctoral position is available in Alexey Ostroumov’s lab at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. We explore neurobiological mechanisms of neuropsychiatric disorders and use a range of techniques that allow experimental analysis at the levels of individual neurons, neural circuits, and behavior. We are looking for a postdoc to lead a project investigating the role of inhibitory circuit plasticity in addiction and depression.

Individuals with a background in neuroscience-related fields are encouraged to apply. Experience in electrophysiology, rodent behavior, and/or molecular biology techniques are preferred but not required. This is a new lab, which provides the opportunity for hands-on training directly from the PI.

The Ostroumov lab is in the department of Pharmacology and Physiology, a diverse and vibrant scientific community that provides a highly collaborative and supportive environment for postdocs to continue their research training. Additional professional development opportunities and activities are sponsored through the Office of Postdoctoral Development at GUMC. We are in Washington, DC, which has an outstanding intellectual atmosphere, plenty of outdoor activities, and tons of historical and cultural attractions.

Interested candidates should send their application material (CV and contact information for 2-3 references) to Alexey Ostroumov (ao711@georgetown.edu). A minimal commitment of 2+ years is required. Please visit our website for more information: https://sites.google.com/view/ostroumovlab
