Position Description:

Two NIH-funded postdoctoral fellow positions focused on studying endocannabinoid signaling in health and disease are available in the laboratory of Dr. Samir Haj-Dahmane, in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Jacob School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University at Buffalo.

Specific emphasis will be placed on understanding the mechanisms controlling the transport of endocannabinoids and other lipids in the brain. This work will incorporate   the use of in vitro electrophysiology, in vivo imaging and circuit specific manipulations with optogenetic tools in transgenic mice.

Candidates must hold Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree. A strong background in system neuroscience research with a track record of leading projects to publication is preferred. Candidates who have experience with in vitro electrophysiological recordings, in vivo imaging and behavioral techniques are strongly encouraged to apply. The postdoctoral fellows will be expected to direct independent projects in a multi-disciplinary setting and collaborate with the other members of the laboratory.

Required Qualifications: 

Ph.D. and/or MD. degree with strong background in Neuroscience, Pharmacology or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D.  with research experience in brain slice electrophysiology, in vivo imaging and behavioral techniques highly preferred. Experience in molecular methods would be an advantage. Other preferred characteristics include: excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong publication record, proven ability to work effectively both independently and as a part of a cross-functional team and the ability to effectively plan and organize work activities, and prioritize task completion to meet schedules and deadlines.
