Neuroimmune Pain Research Program at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD)

The Neuroimmune Pain Research Program at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), directed by Dr. Veronica Shubayev, is recruiting a postdoctoral scholar to lead projects studying autoimmune and sex-specific mechanisms of neuropathic pain. The position will be supported by grants from NIH and VA and provide rigorous exposure in interdisciplinary pain and neuroscience research. UCSD is ranked one of the 18 best universities in the world (2020 Academic Ranking of World Universities). Situated in a rich, multidisciplinary ‘innovation hub’ of La Jolla, California, in minutes’ proximity from Salk, Scripps and Sanford Burnham Institutes, UCSD produces science among the highest cited worldwide. Salary commensurate with skills and experience and benefits will be provided. The position is available immediately.

Candidates are required to have a PhD/MD in neuroscience or immunology, and documented experience in molecular and cellular biology. Experience in experimental design, data analysis. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in team environments. Excellent communication and writing skills in English. High level of independence, ability to craft projects and collaborate with colleagues in related labs are expected. Experience in animal handling, behavioral testing, primary glial, neuronal and/or immune cell biological studies and understanding of basic epigenetics are desirable.
