Open Rank Faculty in Neuroscience,

Neuroimmunology or Glial Biology

The Department of Neuroscience in conjunction with the center for Brain Immunology and Glia (BIG) at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine invites applications for two tenure-track or tenured open-rank faculty positions. These individuals will join a highly collaborative and successful group of investigators who study various neurodegenerative disease processes ranging from Alzheimer’s disease to hearing loss. We are particularly interested in the role of glia and immune processes in disease etiology; Building on the existing strengths in Glial Biology, Neuroimmunology, and Neurodegeneration we wish to expand in the following research areas: astrocyte biology, brain-immune interactions, glia-neuronal interactions, neurodegenerative disease, neurovascular unit, blood-brain barrier, and the gut-brain axis.

Successful applicants will have earned a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD, completed a minimum of three years of postdoctoral training, and demonstrated a track record of successful research with a strong potential of developing innovative research programs that can attract sustained extramural funding. Tenure status and rank of the position depends on qualifications; Priority application review will begin April 2, 2021, but the positions will remain open until filled.
