Positions in Behavioral Pharmacology and Neuroscience of Substance Abuse

Several positions are available in the Behavioral Biology Division at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School (HMS). Faculty within the Division work on behavioral pharmacology and multimodal neuroimaging (fMRI, MRS, DWI, etc.) projects involving integrated behavior/imaging conducted on 3T and 9.4T MR platforms using animal models of substance use disorders. 

 

Several preclinical research projects include:

 

  1. longitudinal analyses of the effects of adolescent THC exposure on various brain and cognitive endpoints
  2. examining the role of drug history in behavioral and neural responses to monoaminergic drugs
  3. identifying neural signatures associated with the behavioral effects of abused drugs from various pharmacological classes
  4. Evaluating candidate medications on drug-taking and relapse-like behavior using animal models of drug abuse

 

 

Post-doctoral Fellow: The ideal candidate will be a recent Ph.D. with a relevant background, e.g., neuroscience, psychology, computer science, or a related field. Candidates should have experience with preclinical behavioral models and/or behavioral pharmacology methods and those with a successful publication history will be given priority.

 

 

 

The selected post-doctoral candidate will be proposed for academic appointment as a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at HMS. The initial appointment will be for two years with the possibility of extension pending satisfactory performance and availability of funding. Submission of career development and other grant funding applications during the appointment is encouraged and will be supported. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, laboratory experience, and institutional guidelines. Qualified women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
