A postdoctoral position is now available in the Slesinger laboratory at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. Through support from the NIH BRAIN initiative, we are developing new cutting-edge tools for monitoring and manipulating neurons in vivo in real-time to better understand drug addiction. For precise temporal and spatial control of peptide release, we are creating photo-releasable nanovesicles and cell-based neurotransmitter sensors, called CNiFERs, for detecting neuropeptide release in vivo. We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with an interest in applying a multidisciplinary approach to studying neuronal circuits. Candidates should have a PhD in Neuroscience/Biochemistry or other relevant field, and first-author publication(s) from their PhD. Experience in one or more of the areas is preferable, including experience with stereotaxic surgery, knowledge of cellular and molecular biological assays, ex vivo or in vivo imaging and/or electrophysiology. Interested candidates should send a curriculum vitae and a brief description of their career goals to paul.slesinger@mssm.edu
