GPCR Signaling in Neurodevelopment and Neuroprotection
A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available immediately in the Laboratory of Molecular Signaling, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), National Institutes of Health (NIH), in Rockville, Maryland. Our laboratory studies the role of lipid mediators in neurodevelopment and neuroprotection in in vitro as well as in vivo settings. We are currently investigating the signaling mechanisms and transcriptional activities of an adhesion G-protein coupled receptor GPR110 and its biological and physiological implication using human iPSC and transgenic/knockout animal models. This work will provide insight for future development of drugs for the prevention and treatment of diseases that are caused by aberrant receptor signaling. Our projects utilize multidisciplinary approaches, including molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, cell biology, and proteomics. For further information on our research, please visit the web site http://irp.nih.gov/pi/hee-kim.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree (or anticipate receiving their degree in the near future) with less than five years of postdoctoral experience. Applicants should have the ability to carry out independent research in relevant areas, a strong interest in interdisciplinary approaches and collaborative research and have published articles in peer-reviewed journals. Hands-on training in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry or cell biology with experience in animal handling is preferred. NIH offers excellent salary and health care packages to its trainees and has consistently been ranked among the best places to work for postdoctoral fellows.
Applicants should send a brief statement of research interests, their curriculum vitae and the contact information for three or more references to: Dr. Hee-Yong Kim, Chief, LMS/NIAAA; 5625 Fishers Lane, Room 3N-07; Rockville, MD 20852 or email hykim@nih.gov.
NIH is an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. All positions are subject to a background check. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. The NIH is dedicated to building a diverse community in its training and employment programs.
