Instructor or Assistant Professor Faculty Position in Basic Neuroscience Research
McLean Hospital
Belmont, MA
McLean Hospital and the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School invite applications for a faculty position at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level from qualified individuals engaged in basic, preclinical systems neuroscience research aimed to improve understanding of the pathophysiology and treatment of neuropsychiatric, neurodevelopmental or substance use disorders. McLean is a private psychiatric hospital with the largest research program in the US. McLean hospital offers basic, cell, molecular, and systems neuroscience approaches, complementing neuroimaging, translational and clinical neuroscience targeting a variety of conditions, including – but not limited to – mood and anxiety disorders, drug and alcohol substance use disorders, eating disorders, developmental disorders (e.g., autism), and neurodegenerative disorders (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease). We seek an investigator with a track record of innovation and excellence in basic systems neuroscience research. Opportunities exist for developing strong collaborations within McLean Hospital and across Harvard Medical School.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. or professional doctorate, appropriate postdoctoral experience, and a record of extramural funding and publications indicative of demonstrated expertise. Depending upon qualifications, the applicant must either meet the academic criteria for appointment at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. The position offers affiliation with a large clinical and basic neuroscience research program and research infrastructure support. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a competitive, independent, and largely externally funded research program. Salary and recruitment packages will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Qualified women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applicants should submit a cover letter (addressed to Kerry Ressler, MD, PhD, and Bill Carlezon, PhD, Search Committee Co-Chairs, McLean Hospital, 115 Mill Street, Belmont, MA 02478-9106), a curriculum vitae, and a concise statement of research interests by email to Kerry J. Ressler, (kressler@mclean.harvard.edu).
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
