Job Details
A funded postdoctoral fellow position is available for a project led by Dr. Ishibashi through the Center for Neuroscience Research at Children’s National Hospital in Washington DC. The laboratory carries out basic and translational research using novel animal models to investigate the impact of Perinatal Injury on Fetal and Neonatal Brain Development.
We seek candidates using computational neuroscience, cutting edge neuroimaging, and physiology/systems neuroscience methods to approach our goals. The full-time research fellow will join a collegial and highly collaborative multidisciplinary team. Tools for state-of-the-art imaging together with cutting edge cellular/molecular analyses are available to address clinically relevant questions in neurodevelopment using preclinical animal model. In addition to techniques utilized in the Ishibashi lab, there are opportunities to collaborate and learn various techniques at the Center for Neuroscience Research to study development of the CNS, with strengths in mouse genetics, neuroembryology, molecular and cellular manipulation of the developing brain, electrophysiology, confocal microscopy, time-lapse multiphoton imaging and animal behavior. The Center for Neuroscience Research occupies a total of 12,000 square feet of newly constructed lab space with excellent core facilities (Genomics and Bioinformatics, Cell and Tissue Microscopy, Animal Behavior and Animal Imaging) and many opportunities for developing translational projects with strong clinical research teams.
Please learn more about our collaborative research and preclinical animal models through our website:

Sci. Transl. Med. 2017. DOI: 10.1126/scitranslmed.aah7029
Trends Neurosci. 2019. DOI: 10.1016/j.tins.2018.12.003
The postdoc will join a collegial, collaborative and highly productive team studying development and function/dysfunction of the CNS after perinatal brain injury.
Candidates should be highly motivated and focused.
Desired qualifications include:
- PhD, or equivalent degree in Neuroscience, Neuroimaging, Bioinformatics
- Experience in developmental neuroscience (beneficial, but not necessary)
Applicants should submit:
- CV with publications,
- Statement of research interests and experience, and
- Letters from references
These documents should be sent to:
