Postdoctoral Fellow, Cellular Neuroscience
Postdoctoral position – Cellular Neuroscience
We have a post-doctoral position available immediately to pursue an exciting project in cellular neuroscience related to neuropathic pain. The position will examine the role of store-operated Orai1 channels in regulating synaptic plasticity, cognitive functions, and neuropathic pain using slice electrophysiology, calcium imaging, and behavioral assays. Applicants with interests and experience in cell physiology and electrophysiology, and who are highly motivated for developing careers as independent investigators are encouraged to apply. The work for this project is based on our recent publications on the role of Orai1 channels in regulating calcium signaling in dendritic spines and astrocytes (Maneshi et al, Cell Reports, 2020; Toth et al, Science Signaling, 2019).
Please send CV, including names of 2 or more references, to Dr. Murali Prakriya (email@example.com).
The successful candidate will join a laboratory that uses a range of electrophysiological, imaging (wide-field, confocal, TIRF, and FRET microscopy), biochemical, and behavioral techniques to study the mechanisms and functions of store operated calcium signaling in the brain. The laboratory is funded by federal grants and is a part of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in downtown Chicago.
Minimum requirements include strong graduate (PhD) and undergraduate training in neuroscience and/or engineering, molecular biology, or related disciplines.
Northwestern University is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action Employer of all protected classes, including veterans and individuals with disabilities. Women, racial and ethnic minorities, individuals with disabilities, and veterans are encouraged to apply. Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States.
