Postdoctoral Fellow Positions
Postdoc positions are immediately available at University of California, San Diego in the laboratory of Yimin Zou in the Neurobiology Section. The following is a list of scientific questions we are currently addressing and the technologies postdoc trainees will become proficient with while working on these projects:
- Axon guidance and central nervous system repair
Growth cone signaling and cell biological mechanisms of axon wiring, genetic program of axon wiring, neurological and psychiatric disorders caused by miswiring, role of axon guidance molecules in adult spinal cord and brain injury, neuron-glial interaction in CNS injury, glial scar formation, neural circuit reorganization and functional recovery.
CRISPR-Cas9 strategies, single cell transcriptomics, mass spectrometry, super resolution microscopy, light sheet microscopy and organotypical cultures, spinal cord and brain injury models, behavioral studies for functional recovery, miniature scope, single cell transcriptomics and viral tracing and 3D imaging of axons.
2. Synapse formation and synaptopathy in neurodegeneration and neuropsychiatric disorders
Signaling mechanisms for glutamatergic synapse formation, function and plasticity, how synaptic adhesion molecules interact with the synapse formation pathway, how abnormal synapse development leads to developmental and neuropsychiatric disorders and how synapse loss occurs in neurodegenerative disorders.
Electrophysiology, electron microscopy, two-photon imaging, miniature microscope, fiber photometry, CRISPR-Cas9 strategies, behavioral tests (cognitive, social and emotional), viral approaches to target neuronal types, single cell transcriptomics and mass spectrometry.
