The Poston Lab leverages existing Stanford-specific research infrastructure from the Stanford Alzheimer’s disease Research Center and the Pacific Udall Center for Excellence in Parkinson’s Research. These Centers collect in-depth clinical, biological, and imaging data on people with Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, as well as people with Lewy Body Dementia and older adults with no neurological problems. The Poston Lab is highly integrated with several other neuroscience labs at Stanford (Wyss-Coray, Andreasson, Greicius, Mormino, Montine, for example), which provides a rich scientific and collaborative community. Our dedicated Lewy Body Dementia Research Fellow would aim to use this data to identify a biomarker that would improve diagnostic accuracy, predict clinical symptoms, or identify underlying pathology. Such a biomarker is critical to the success of future LBD-specific clinical trials.
Successful applicants will have completed a PhD in neuroscience, clinical neuropsychology or a related field, and have a strong record of productivity that includes neurodegenerative, biomarker, or neuroimaging publications. Individuals with an interest in the cognitive and behavioral aspects of Parkinson’s disease and Lewy Body Dementia are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates will need a high level of experience in Statistics to both support other members of the group as well as to advance the overall aims of the lab through their own work. We like working with other smart, motivated, fun people looking to better the lives of our patients through scientific discovery and innovation.
Interested applicants can send their CV, three letters of reference, and a cover letter describing their research interests and career goals to Dr. Kathleen Poston (email@example.com).
