The Department of Neurological Sciences at the University of Nebraska Medical Center invites applications for a tenure-leading position at the Assistant, Associate or full Professor level. Of particular interest to this search are candidates using molecular, genetic, physiological, circuit analysis and other approaches for the study the etiologies, pathogenesis, and mechanisms of neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders. The successful candidate should have an outstanding record of research achievement and the ability to attract significant extramural research support, and will be expected to lead an independent, collaborative program of translational research and academic activity. Applications from candidates with Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. degrees are welcome. The salary and start-up package will be competitive and appropriate to the level of appointment.

The Department of Neurological Sciences (DONS) is comprised of clinicians, scientists, and educators who advance neural health across the lifespan. Our funded research includes clinical trials and strong investigator-initiated research programs and laboratories, including Mind and Brain Health, Dynamic Imaging Cognition and Neuromodulation and the study of Neurodevelopmental Disorders.
The Basic Science group is located on one floor of the Durham Research Center II, one of a pair of research towers that house an active group of UNMC scientists in cell biology, pharmacology, neurodegenerative disorders, nanomedicine, and molecular genetics, and is directly across from the new Buffett Cancer Center. Available resources include Next Generation genomics, proteomics, mouse genome engineering, confocal, multiphoton, and super-resolution imaging, and a state-of-the-art animal care facility among others.
