Job Details

A postdoctoral fellow position is available starting immediately at Creighton University Department of Pharmacology and Neuroscience for an NIH-funded project on glutamate receptor in the laboratory of Dr. Shashank Dravid.

One line of research involves neural circuit analysis to understand the function of glutamate delta 1 and NMDA receptors related to pain, autism and schizophrenia. Of particular interest are basal ganglia, striatal and amygdala circuits. A second line of research involves drug discovery and molecular biology studies related to glutamate receptors and Alzheimer’s disease. We utilize genetic models, imaging, electrophysiology, in vivo manipulations and behavioral analysis to address these questions. Super resolution, confocal microscopy and electron microscopy facilities are available for imaging experiments. Biacore 8K SPR and high throughput imaging platforms are available to develop high throughput assays.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD with strong background in neuroscience, pharmacology or related areas. Candidates with expertise in neural circuit analysis, molecular biology, imaging or biochemistry techniques are encouraged to apply. Individuals with several years of postdoctoral training will be considered for more senior level positions which may allow independent grant submissions. Individuals with MS with substantial research experience will also be considered for a research associate position. Salary will be commensurate with experience using standard NIH guidelines.

There is rich neuroscience community at Creighton and surrounding universities with plenty of collaborative opportunities.  Creighton University provides excellent benefits. Interested applicants should email a single pdf with cover letter, resume and names of at least three references to shashankdravid@creighton.edu.
