A position of director of the Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Facility

The Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research is seeking to fill a full-time research scientist position within the Institute’s Center for Dementia Research (CDR). The CDR is a consortium of independent laboratories and research programs dedicated to understanding the origins of Alzheimer’s disease and other major neurodegenerative diseases with the goals of improving diagnosis and treatment. The CDR recently received an award from the National Institute of Health (NIH) for the purchase of a flow cytometry and cell sorting (FACS) instrument.

We are recruiting an individual that will establish and be the director of the FACS facility. This individual is required to have extensive experience in using and managing a FACS. Preference will be given for experience in studies aimed to identify small sized particles such as extracellular vesicles.

Specific responsibilities would include, but not be limited to:

 Scientific oversight and maintenance of the FACS facility

 Maintain the management and safe operation of the instrument

 Manage safe and authorized use and training of others on the instrument

 Maximize use by keeping a schedule table that will allocate necessary time for each investigator

 Assure that only users with approval from institutional human subjects, animal welfare and biosafety committees, when applicable, will have access to the instrument

The position that we are offering is a permanent New York State position, providing long time stability. The following is a direct link to the posted position on the StateJobsNY website:
