Post-doctoral Fellow in Molecular Neurobiology

A Post-Doctoral Fellowship position is available in Molecular Neurobiology of Neural Repair Mechanisms in Jeff Twiss's lab at the University of South Carolina (https://sc.edu/study/colleges_schools/artsandsciences/biological_sciences/our_people/directory/twiss_jeff.php). The successful applicant will join a highly collaborative research group that focuses on axon intrinsic and extrinsic mechanisms that facilitate regeneration in the peripheral and central nervous systems (J Cell Sci 130, 3650; Nat Commun 22, 3358; Molec Cell Proteomics 17, 2091; J Cell Biol 218, 1871; PK Sahoo et al. Curr Biol in press).  Our research group is interested in the biology of the axon that underlies neuronal growth, function, and regeneration, particuarly on how axonal mRNA transport, translation and stability contribute to axon growth and signaling mechanisms underlie these.  Experiments will use a combination of in vitro and in vivo approaches with cellular, molecular and biochemical methods.

A Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Neurobiology, Biology or closely related field is required.  Experience in neurobiology or RNA biology is preferred, particularly previous work in neural or glial responses to injury or environmental cues using with primary neuronal or glial cultures or in vivo models.
