The Department of Neuroscience and Pharmacology at the University of Iowa has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher to study the the role of monoaminergic systems and neuropeptides in alcohol dependence and depression. The lab employs a variety of techniques including two-photon imaging, electrophysiology, whole-brain imaging, optogenetics, chemogenetics and single-cell RNAseq in transgenic mice. We also have projects focused on the role of serotonin in the progression of tau pathology in Alzheimer’s disease and the intersection between Alzheimer's disease and alcohol dependence. We seek enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals who are committed to a scientific career and have the ability to work independently.
