A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the department of Physiology & Cell Biology at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. The laboratory investigates neuronal signaling in the brain, using in vitro and in vivo mouse models. The current research emphasis is on the contribution from acid-sensitive GPCRs and acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) to neuron function, ischemic injury, and neurodegenerative diseases (e.g. Wang 2020 Stroke doi:10.1161/STROKEAHA.120.031479).
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with background/interest in neuroscience. The candidate should have a recent PhD with a research focus in neuroscience, molecular and cell biology, GPCR signaling or channel physiology. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are expected. Previous experience with cell and neuron culture, immunohistochemistry, neurodegenerative diseases, rodent stroke models, rodent behavioral analysis, confocal imaging, molecular biology and protein analysis preferred. Interested candidates should submit a CV along with the names of 3 references to Dr. Xiangming Zha (zha@southalabama.edu).
