The Section of Retinal Ganglion Cell Biology at the National Eye Institute (NEI) is seeking a candidate for a postdoctoral fellow position. We strive to understand the molecular processes taking place in the eye in the course of glaucoma, one of the leading causes of blindness in the world. The development of novel, neuroprotective glaucoma therapies are of great importance. We are interested in investigating the potential neuroprotective benefits of several factors as well as exosomes produced by different cell types, intending not only to better understand their mechanism of action but also, subsequently apply identified protective reagents as a glaucoma treatment. Another area of research is the role of olfactomedin domain-containing proteins in the AMPA receptor complex.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with strong background in neurobiology, molecular biology, and/or cellular biology with less than 3 years of postdoctoral experience. Experience working with rodents and/or electrophysiology is a plus. Good oral and written communication skills are required.
To apply:
Applications should be submitted to Dr. Tomarev by e-mail at tomarevs@nei.nih.gov and include a cover letter describing research experience and interests, curriculum vitae, and contact information for three references.
