The Neurobiology Section in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Southern California invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of neuroscience position. Faculty appointments at the level of Associate or Full Professor will also be considered under special circumstances. We seek outstanding candidates from all areas of neuroscience, including cellular, molecular, systems, behavioral, computational, and developmental. Candidates whose research falls into these broad disciplines are invited to apply. Key selection criteria will include research track record, originality and creativity of science, and anticipated impact on the field of neuroscience and related disciplines. We strongly encourage applications from women, underrepresented minorities, and individuals with a commitment to mentoring groups that are underrepresented in the sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to continue their active research program and their participation in mentoring activities to support our diverse student body, with particular focus on students and trainees from underrepresented groups. USC offers competitive salaries, research set-up funds, and recruitment allowances as well as a thriving community of scholars committed to mutually supporting each other.

Successful candidates for this position should demonstrate evidence of a commitment to advancing equity and inclusion through their research, teaching and/or service.

The Section is committed to addressing the family needs of faculty, including dual career couples and single parents. We are also interested in candidates who have had non-traditional career paths or who have taken time off for family reasons (e.g., caring for children, the disabled or the elderly), or who have achieved excellence in careers outside of academia (e.g., in professional or industry service).
