Postdoc Position in Electrophysiology/Imaging/Optogenetics and Biosensor Engineering
The Verkhusha laboratory at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine is looking for postdocs or faculty associates interested to join interdisciplinary biotechnology/neuroscience group working on BRAIN Initiative projects.
We are a protein engineering laboratory with the emphasis on neuroscience. Current projects focus on engineering of fluorescent protein-based biosensors for dynamic imaging of calcium and membrane voltage, neuromodulators, neurotransmitters, enzyme activities, coupled with optogenetics. They involve all steps of tool development and validation including fluorescence imaging in cultured neurons and, later, in mice to correlate specific behavior, sensation and cognitive processes to neuronal activity in the brain.
We have two open positions. One position is for a molecular neuroscientist interested in testing and validation of advanced biosensors of neuronal activity, coupling them to optogenetic control of activity and molecular processes in neurons. This postdoc should have experience in neuronal cultures and will use cellular electrophysiology, electric field stimulation, optogenetics and calcium imaging. Another position is for a molecular biologist willing to engineer fluorescent protein-based biosensors and characterize them in vitro and in cultured cells. The person should have experience in molecular cloning. To apply, please, email your CV and contacts of three references to firstname.lastname@example.org
The Albert Einstein College of Medicine offers a highly interactive and stimulating academic environment for scientists who also benefit from the programs in the Biophotonics Center, Innovation Imaging laboratory, Department of Neuroscience and throughout the College. Einstein is located in a pleasant residential area in the northeast corner of New York City with an easy commute to downtown Manhattan. The College offers medical insurance and subsidized apartment in the postdoctoral housing.
The Albert Einstein College of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, protected veteran or disabled status or genetic information. Einstein seeks candidates whose skills, and personal and professional experience, have prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence, and the communities we serve.
