A postdoctoral position is available to investigate the neurobiological mechanisms of adolescent alcohol exposure on pain-related outcomes. This project is funded by a collaborative grant between the labs of Drs. Nicholas Gilpin and Tiffany Wills in the School of Medicine at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in downtown New Orleans. The position is funded by an NIAAA-sponsored T32 training grant at LSUHSC. This newly funded research project uses an integrative approach that combines slice electrophysiology, behavioral testing, pharmacology, circuit-based approaches, and anatomical, molecular biology, and biochemical techniques. The ideal candidate will have experience in animal models of pain or alcohol exposure plus one or more of the above techniques. The successful candidate will be mentored toward research independence in his/her chosen area of specialization. Review of applications will begin immediately.
