The University of California, San Francisco Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care is accepting applications for a postdoctoral research fellowship funded by the NIH. Positions are available in 2021, with flexible starting dates. Candidates interested in basic, translational, and clinical research training opportunities in areas that are relevant to anesthesiology and the perioperative sciences are invited to apply. Fellows will receive in-depth research mentorship, complete coursework in grant writing and biostatistics, and join a community of diverse physician-scientists and scientists. The program is structured around five integrated tracks:

• Critical Care and Immunology
• Neuroscience, Pain, and Addiction
• Omics, Bioinformatics, and Medical Informatics
• Outcomes and Disparities Research, and Implementation Sciences
• Vascular Biology and Bioengineering

Fellowship Features:

• Stipend, funding for health insurance, and an annual allowance for travel and training-related expenses
• Well-established departmental research training program (Pathway to Scientific Independence) that incorporates longstanding NIH T32 postdoctoral fellowship

Fellow Requirements:

• PhD, DVM, DDS, MD, or comparable doctoral degree from an accredited domestic or foreign institution
• U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals, or permanent residents only
• The fellowship requires a minimum 2-year commitment
